Mediocre Month for Hip-Hop? Part 1: G.O.O.D Music

A mediocre Black Music Month

In recent years we have gotten so used to being inundated by content that we rarely notice if the product is worth our time. I've found that this month has showed us just how much our favorite artists expect our loyalty, but don't always give us quality in return. This month was set to be one of the biggest months in Hip-Hop and I was left underwhelmed by mediocrity and HASTE.

First mistake music lovers made prior to the start of music month, was allowing Kanye to bait us on Twitter and TMZ with MAGA hats and deplorable slavery comments. That was followed by the anti-climatic Pusha-T and Drake beef that started the month.

More importantly, the media as well as fans were more concerned with Drake's secret baby. Seemingly far less baffled with the fact that everyone aligned to G.O.O.D music was releasing 25 minute EP's.

Social media allowed us to get the inside scoop on the listening parties, and tune in to the brief press tour from Pusha-T as he released image damaging content. Social media did a horrible job with the coverage on this album. The music community just quickly forgave or ignored Whitney's drug littered bathroom that Kanye paid over 60k to use as Pusha's cover.

As a SUPER STAN for Whitney I listened to the album holding my nausea. We no longer care about the families of dead legends when C.E.O's and President/Artists aren't creative enough to come up with something else huh?

Despite the distastefulness. The album in true King Push fashion was well done. "I'm top five and all them N#$AS Dylan"! So well done that all the media addressed was ONE TRACK about another artists who we'll be discussing on part two.  An echoing of microwave timer seeped throughout the week, it was time for another album.

Kanye's album cover was rushed/underwhelming, not very creative, (just fill in a dissatisfied adjective in here) the production was Kanye's so, that was cool. Still even that was so so.

Mathematically this is how it went. Friday album's album comes out, you listen to it 3 times consecutively, you may come back to it on Monday on the way to work, read a few reviews about the wack album. Go over it with your friends on social for a few days, by then you're welcoming the next one.

That was Kid Cudi and Ye's Joint Album Kid's See Ghosts. Honestly I don't even remember it. That was ALL THE WAY on June 8th. See what I did there? Production was still good. Kid Cudi's angst was refreshing because we hadn't heard it in a while. However, since we haven't heard him in a while and he and Ye's Joint album had been in the works for years, one would think it would be longer. This album was the one that should have been more like a G.O.O.D music compilation with maybe let's say 3 or 4 more tracks. CLASSIC. The microwave beeps again.

JUNE 15TH the day that I had anticipated for 6 weeks. I stayed up late on the 14th so at midnight to hear the GOD SON over Kanye tracks. Believing that Kanye would stir all his idealistic creative energy into a lyrical titan and finally FEED THE CULTURE. So.. at midnight it wasn't available. I woke up in the morning on my way to work I checked again. Still wasn't there. Luckily I was able to get a link to the album listening party on YouTube, but I prefer studio quality. JUNE 16th I was able to finally  hear it.

When the first track started and Diddy was HOLLERING all over the tracks I was ECSTATIC. Track 2 Dope, Track 3 Nice. I was getting more excited and discouraged because I knew it would be ending soon. Track 4 beautiful. But did The Dream and Ye hi jack the song 5 and 6? Track 7 meh..BEEP BEEP BEEP.

I should note that there are 3 albums LEFT to review. Part 2 Post coming soon.

It's Not Love, it's Love Adjacent

It’s my thought that the heart and the mind take turns in sharing authority in how we pattern our personal decisions. They cannot both be in control at the same time, and I believe that there’s a celestial straw pulling to determine which will rule within each given moment. The dangerous part about this is, sometimes when the heart wins, we forget to use our brain . When this happens, we start making decisions that are completely passion driven, hunger driven, and backed behind a receptor that shouldn’t receive as much showtime as it’s getting. Sometimes you fall in love with someone that is all wrong for you. They don’t feed you spiritually, they don’t feed you mentally, and maybe they don’t respect you. But they have ONE or two things on our list, so we keep them around. But by osmosis, all the signs that you saw in the beginning appear a bit less obvious, and now you THINK you love this person. Your heart is in control and your brain is taking a break, your brain has

So some of his language may be a bit harder than you're used to but.. you will not be disappointed. Capt SistaGurl Out!  Introducing Tikko Brohey  Ladies do you feel like “dudes ain’t shit” or “dudes don’t act right?” Have you ever thought about the things you do that contribute to that? The answer is probably not.  Now granted there are dudes out there who just ain’t shit, and that’s just what it is. Majority of men are good men. But his partner can often determine just how good he'll actually be. Every woman deserves to be treated like a queen, as every man deserves to be treated like a king. The disconnect comes from when there’s an argument all the King and Queen shit is out the
